The topic for the May CNC training was Vectric version 12, which is the most recent release. Today’s trainer was Rick Reimer, and there were 9 in attendance. Welcome to new member Susan Shekels.
Version 12 is a major upgrade, with many new icons and an updated look & feel. Rick began the training by showing a side-by-side comparison between Vectric 11 and 12.
Version 12 uses a separate license, so it is possible to run V11 and V12 concurrently. Some of the changes discussed: new icons, removal of Save, Cut, and Paste, an asterisk before the file name to show it has been modified, automatic help text, and vertical text.
Rick shared a Vcarve implementation that he has been working on, and explained the steps he used to create the project. He showed the 3D rendering, and how much easier it was in V12 to see the model.
The discussion then transitioned into other topics, including 3D views, prism carving, Vcarve inlays, and other aspects of Vectric software. It can be a real challenge to upgrade software, but having a group with this much experience certainly makes the task easy!
